The University Writing Program (UWP) at Johns Hopkins University seeks Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows for the academic year 2025–2026, with an anticipated start date in July 2025. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of one renewal.
The successful candidates will join the UWP at an ongoing moment of transformation. The program has recently launched a universal first-year writing requirement and is helping departments to integrate more writing into the majors, while also developing community-engaged writing classes as well as courses for graduate students and advanced undergraduates. The Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows will join a collaborative, creative faculty in the midst of crafting a new culture of writing at Hopkins.
Postdocs are responsible for 4 courses (1 prep) per year, either 2-2 or 1-3, depending on program needs, and perform service (primarily committee work). Hopkins PhDs who have not yet participated in UWP’s Teaching Writing Workshop (TWW) will complete this training in the fall and teach 3 sections in the spring. Current compensation, determined by the Krieger School, is $46,500 plus qualified benefits.
To be eligible, the PhD must have been received no earlier than July 1, 2020, and the defense must be scheduled for no later than May 1, 2025.
