High Point University is advertising five Graduate Anatomy Teaching Fellow positions for Summer 2025. PhD Candidates near the end of their training (soon to be on the job market) are their target but they encourage any student considering an anatomy career to apply. They are happy to report that their alumni have a very strong track record of employment as anatomists.

Not only does their program provide an opportunity for anatomy teaching experience but these are paid positions ($6k stipend plus $2k per month for housing). They can assist fellows with finding housing for the summer.

Students who participate will gain experience in cadaveric dissection and anatomical instruction, and will learn Cartmill’s Typical Body Segment (TBS) approach. The TBS relies on evolutionary and developmental narratives to provide context for relationships among structures and explain how the adult anatomy came to be. This reduces students’ cognitive load and is a much more interesting approach to anatomy than a typical clinical correlates-based course. This approach should appeal to students of evolutionary biology and biological anthropology.
